Subject: Home Depot
Dear
Commissioner Winton:
This
Thursday morning April 28th
2005 will be an important day for the
future of Coconut Grove and ALL of
Miami. The proposed Home Depot
moving into Coconut Grove is only one
example of what has become a much
greater issue that has importance to all
Citizens of our City. This issue
is no longer ONLY about Home Depot and
Coconut Grove. We live in a
Capitalistic Democracy which functions
best when in synergy, that is, when the
whole is greater than the sum of its
parts. However, when there is a
conflict between Democracy, the will of
the Citizenry supposedly represented
through their elected officials, and
questionable Capitalistic practices
(economic benefit for a very select few)
the cause of Democracy MUST be
Protected. A government that disregards
the well-being of its Citizens in
deference to political and economic
favoritism is Absolutely CORRUPT.
The Strong Voice of the People, as shown
time and again by over 10,000 petition
signatures, thousands of posted yard
signs, numerous letters in local papers,
and the overwhelming turnout at meetings
leave NO DOUBT as to the WILL of the
PEOPLE. You have an opportunity
and an obligation, as an elected
official to Champion the CAUSE OF
DEMOCRACY on Thursday morning by voting
in support of THE PEOPLE. To do
otherwise would be an admission of
corruption, at least to the ideals of
DEMOCRACY. If DEMOCRACY is DEAD in MIAMI
it will be this COMMISSION that has
KILLED IT. Please remember this
when you VOTE on Thursday Morning.
I KNOW WE WILL.
Thank
You,
Len
